Butterfly
Lara Rabbani Up goes the butterfly Ascending into the sky Past the willow tree, Beyond the point of visibility. A blue so radiantly bright, She shines in the sunlight. But soon the shine will cease, As the shadows increase. The clouds rapidly overcome the sun, And the storm has only just begun. Nearer they draw, Clouds of dark blue. Then comes the rain, Cracking on the window pane, A cacophony of pitter patter-- The result: aggressive rain splatter. Last comes thunder and lightning, Resulting in a frightening Noise from which the butterfly retreats, Only to accept defeat. Struck by lightning, she descends, But still her being I commend For only after do I finally see That her legacy Has passed on to me. |
